Derek Hough, Emmy Award-winning choreographer and "Dancing with the Stars" pro-dancer with the most wins, was injured on Monday, April 20, while rehearsing for the 10th Anniversary DWTS special—in which he was supposed to dance with former partner Maria Menounos. Due to the injury, Hough had to sit out the show.

According to his publicist, Hough, 29, was diagnosed with a broken toe on his right foot and sprains and bone bruises on his left ankle.

"Performing 10 shows a week at Radio City while rehearsing with Nastia [Lukin] for DWTS, I've never felt more healthy, strong and fit. But then a fluke accident happened that involved a light and some stairs. Can't believe it, wish I had a cooler story to tell," Hough captioned a photo from his hospital bed on Wednesday.

"All that dancing, flipping, jumping and the thing that stops me in my tracks is something as simple as a light and some stairs," Hough said. "I'm doing everything I possibly can to have a quick recovery and I'm determined to come back stronger than ever. I appreciate all the love and support, you guys are the best. And thank you to Mark, BC Jean and Corky Ballas for staying with me at the hospital until 2 a.m. Love you. This is new territory for me, I'm usually able to work through injury but this one has literally floored me. But like I said before I'm determined to come back all guns blazing...soon!!! #setbackisasetupforacomeback."

Hough's publicist confirmed that the dancer will remain in Los Angeles this week to recover from his injuries. An understudy is taking over his starring role in "New York Spring Spectacular" in Radio City and his current DWTS partner, gymnast Nastia Liukin, is currently training with a different pro-dancer.

It has not yet been confirmed whether Hough will be able to perform on next Monday's show.
