'Dark Souls 3' DLC release date news update: Game's first expansion to come out in fall?

When "Dark Souls 3" came out in March this year, it became an instant hit and met the expectations of the fans. The game has sold millions of copies worldwide, making it one of the most successful video game releases this year. The third installment is said to be the last one for the action role-playing video game franchise. Fortunately for fans, game developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco are already getting ready to roll out the first DLC update of the game.

According to reports, "Dark Souls 3" first DLC pack will be released in fall this year. The reports added that the second expansion may not come out this year since the people behind the franchise are concentrating on giving better gaming experience once the first expansion comes out. However, fans can expect the second expansion pack to arrive early next year.

Despite several claims that the series will finally end, FromSotware president and director Hidetaka Miyazaki did not close all doors just yet.

"This game marks a major "turning point" within the Dark Souls series. Just as it's been announced, we have two DLCs planned, but as it stands now, I'm not thinking about making any sequels or spin-offs. That applies to Bloodborne as well, Miyazaki said during an interview with Gamespot. "I keep referring to the series as a 'turning point,' and I'm avoiding use of the word 'finish,' since saying it would completely 'finish' the series."

He added that should they make another "Dark Souls" title, it has to be developed perfectly.

"If someone says they want to make a Dark Souls game using the latest in technology, and if it is sufficiently attractive, then it wouldn't be fair for me to just finish the series."

As of now, the company has yet to provide specific details with regard to the development and release date of the upcoming DLC update.
