'Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin' Release Date, Reviews: Critics Offer Glowing Feedback
From Software's just released "Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin" is drawing positive responses from gamers and reviewers who are one in citing the big improvement from the game's previous version which was released last year.
Included in the "Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin" is a remastered version of Dark Souls II and three DLCs for the game.
The game is playable in next-generation consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Those who want the additional content will have to buy the game at full price. As for the game's downloadable content, this includes Crown of the Old Iron King, Crown of the Sunken King and Crown of the Ivory King.
"Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin" also features new placements for enemies and items, updates to its graphics and audio and increases the limit of multiplayers from four to six. Players who own the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 can also purchase the game, but they will not be able to get full advantage of its improved framerate of 60fps and 1080p resolution. They will only get the original Dark Souls II's game along with three DLC packs without the big gameplay changes coming to the next-gen consoles.
"Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin" has been earning almost universal praise from reviewers who point out the new enemies that have been added. They include "The Forlorn" who sweep into the game just when you are taking on a adversary, quickly turning the encounter into a deadly one. Threats can also come from fellow players.
Attack of the Fanboy said in its review that in addition to the game's remastering, From Software has significantly improved how the game looks.
However, since it has only been a year since the previous game was released, the price is quite steep at $60. PC gamers are being given a deal on the game if they own the Dark Souls II DirectX 9 version and they only need to pay $20 to get the DirectX 11 version of "Scholar of the First Sin" provided they have already purchased all the DLCs.
