Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) is undoubtedly the star of "Deadpool." It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. After all, his name is in the title. However, the film also featured several interesting side characters like Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Colossus (voiced by Stefan Kapičić) and Weasel (T.J. Miller). And let's not forget about Dopinder (Karan Soni), the taxi driver. Seriously, though, that guy shouldn't listen to Deadpool's advice.

Since the first film has a lot of fun side characters, fans can expect to see the same thing with "Deadpool 2." In an interview with Deadline, script writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick talked about keeping the focus on Deadpool while introducing a slew of characters.

"It'll be populated with a lot of characters, but it is still Deadpool's movie, this next one. We're pushing forward very hard. I think by every account we will shoot it this year, and we're on our multiple draft now. It's taken different twists and turns, but it's really coalescing, and we're very, very excited," Reese said.

Speaking of supporting characters, the writers confirmed to Nerdist that Dopinder would be back. "I would say that the relationship between Dopinder and Deadpool was the most fun for me. I love that relationship and I love that character. And he'll be in the sequel," Wernick stated. They also told Collider that Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus would appear in the sequel.

Meanwhile, Reynolds told MTV that they are still looking for the right actor to play Cable. Fans already know that he's appearing thanks to the post-credit scene in "Deadpool," but so far, nobody has been cast yet.

"Deadpool 2" will also feature Domino, and a few months ago, The Wrap got hold of the names included on the shortlist for the role. So far, there hasn't been any updates since director Tim Miller left the project.

"Deadpool 2" is scheduled to premiere on Jan. 12, 2018.
