"Deadpool" is definitely a success story. It revived Ryan Reynolds career, it was well-received, and it also made a truckload of money. The film was made with a $58 million budget, but it managed to gross more than $783 million worldwide. That usually means the sequel should have a little more financial flexibility, right?

In an interview with Variety, Ryan Reynolds talked briefly about the budget for "Deadpool 2." "The budget is not going to be phenomenally bigger. Who knows? Maybe the budget will be bigger — anything can happen," he stated.

Well, he was more than a little ambiguous about the money they were getting to produce "Deadpool 2." One thing is for sure, though, 20th Century Fox is going to give the sequel the funding it needs since the first one made them a lot of money.

During the interview, Reynolds also talked about the possibility of Deadpool getting a boyfriend. "What love is to Deadpool may not be what love is to Batman or someone else. I think that could be played up more. He's an outsider in every way, shape, and form," he said. "Deadpool isn't in love with Vanessa just because she's a woman. He's in love with Vanessa because he loves her," he added.

Reynolds says they weren't afraid of alienating people in less tolerant countries. It should be noted that "Deadpool" was denied a release in China. "We were rated 'F–k you!' in China," he stated. Now, just imagine how much money the movie would have made if it had been released there. "We might have been the first billion-dollar R-rated movie," he ponders.

In other news, "Deadpool" has been nominated in the adapted screenplay category by the Writers Guild of America. The film has already scooped up nods for the Golden Globes and the Critics' Choice Awards. Is an Oscar nomination next?

"Deadpool 2" is scheduled to premiere on Jan. 12, 2018.
