'Deadpool 2' rumors, spoilers, news: 'Wick' director David Leitch confirmed to direct sequel; Cable and Domino may debut
The sequel of one of Marvel's blockbuster entries, "Deadpool," may have hit a snag in terms of its production dramas over the departure of Tim Miller due to some "creative differences" with Ryan Reynolds himself but that didn't stop the people behind the highest-grossing R-rated of all time to finally find the next suitable director.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that "John Wick" director David Leitch has officially closed a deal to helm "Deadpool 2." Apart from Miller, the studio and the producers also had other filmmakers such as Rupert Sanders, Drew Goddard, and Magnus Martens. Leitch has reportedly met with Reynolds in New York and was subsequently offered the gig right after.
The development was made official weeks after Tim Miller, who spearheaded "Deadpool," chose to exit the project as he and Ryan Reynolds had some "creative differences." Accordingly, Reynolds had wanted to stick to the film's "raunch comedy" tone as opposed to Miller's "stylized sequel" direction.
Furthermore, Miller and Reynolds had also disagreed over the casting choice for Cable. Accordingly, Miller had already Kyle Chandler in mind while the latter had another one in mind.
On the other hand, Fox and the producers are now jazzing up the third installment of "Deadpool." Interestingly, they intend to introduce yet another filmmaker to the project.
As per Leitch's direction, the sequel couldn't be more satisfied as he already has an adept experience in action-movie entries. Apart from co-helming "Wick," Leitch has also spent years as stunt coordinator and as a second unit director while creating a stunt company known as 87eleven.
"Deadpool 2" does not have an official release date yet.
