Dell Precision 7720 specs, price, release news: workstation boasts virtual reality features to win over competitors
Dell has something for the gamers that would allow them to experience virtual reality (VR) at its finest. The Dell Precision 7720 has all the makings of a technologically forward workstation that everyone will be impressed about.
Dell Precision 7720 was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 held in Las Vegas, Nevada last week. The event, according to Upload, did not give any VR fans something to look forward in the future, but Dell Precision 7720 made a great appearance to keep them interested.
The desktop weighs 3.42 kg and is packed with Xeon processors and Intel i7. It also comes with a 17-inch display screen with either 1,080p of 1,600×900-pixel resolution or 4K display.
It is usual for a virtual reality-based gadget to have the latest graphics card from Nvidia, but Dell Precision 7720 took a different direction by taking on other options. The device has either WX 7100, AMD's Radeon Pro WX 4130 or the Quadro line from Nvidia like P3000, P4000 or P5000. It could be noted that the P6000 is not installed in the device, considering that it has just been announced last year.
Furthermore, Dell Precision 7720 has memory options of 32GB double data rate fourth-generation (DDR4) and 64GB DDR4.
Dell Precision 7720 is said to be made for users who need complex professional programs that are not really into gaming. Since the gaming world is into virtual reality, the workstation is made to be productive by integrating the VR apps into engine like Unity. And since it is made for VR, it can support popular VR headsets such as Rift and Vive.
Aside from Dell Precision 7720, the company also unveiled the Precision 5720, which also has VR support. It is expected that both devices will hit the shelves soon.
The company was expected to announce any update on the headset they are developing with Microsoft, but no details about it were shared.
