The first half of the hit new political drama series "Designated Survivor" ended with a big bang, but the remaining episodes of the series will take some time before it returns to ABC.

At the end of the episode titled "The Oath," President Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) almost solved the mystery regarding the Capitol bombing conspiracy. With the help of Emily Rhodes (Italia Ricci), the POTUS found out that someone from the White House might be the one responsible for the bombing.

But Kirkman's life was put in danger when someone was about to shoot him after Peter MacLeish (Ashley Zukerman) was sworn in to the vice-presidential office. Good thing Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent Hannah Wells (Maggie Q) managed to step in to distract the attention of the U.S. President's assassin by shooting first.

There is no information yet regarding Hannah's fate when the series returns for the second half of its first season, but it seems like the FBI agent will be taken into custody based on the promo trailer for "Designated Survivor" season 1 episode 11.

The trailer also revealed that someone took the shot, but it was not clear who was at the receiving end. Based on the promo, ambulances will be called to the scene, and an unrecognized person will be needing a surgery. But while the trailer did not reveal the outcome of the surgery, someone could end up dead when the series returns next year.

However, it may still take a while before the show airs the remaining episodes of the season. The trailer revealed that the next new episode of "Designated Survivor" will not be aired until March next year. Yet the actual release date is still being kept under wraps.

ABC is expected to announce the return of "Designated Survivor" season 1 and their plans to order the show's second season after the holidays.
