'Despicable Me' Minions Movie Release Date 2015: Trailer Video Released
It had to happen sooner or later. The Minions (the strangely funny but lovable yellow creatures), who were undeniably the best part of why both "Despicable Me" and "Despicable Me 2" became such mega box-office hits, will soon have their own movie, entitled "Minions." It will hit the screens on July 10, 2015.
Despicable doubters shouldn't worry about whether or not this news will come true because a trailer has already been released – proof that the Minions are determined to let their adoring public know how they evolved from being plain, single-celled organisms to being servants of the most despicable masters ever, including a ferocious dinosaur (Tyrannosaurus Rex) and the extremely arrogant ruler Napoleon Bonaparte.
The spin-off movie is packaged as a prequel, and is meant to sustain the entertainment value provided by the Minions. They still speak incoherently, using gibberish-sounding language, and are as comically fumbling as ever. It is even shown in the movie how their lack of coordination to serve the despicable ones usually ended in their being killed off.
Such a situation eventually led to their inability to find other despicable masters to serve. This resulted in their becoming victims of depression because of a lack of purpose. From there, they ended up in a very hostile and cold environment, not knowing what else to do, and simply waiting for something to happen.
Hundreds of years pass, until three Minions get tired of simply hanging around, instead of finding someone despicable to serve. The three -- Bob, Kevin, and Stuart -- head out and find themselves in Manhattan, New York, in the late 1960s. Then they arrive in London, where they realize they have to do what they can, to prevent the extinction of their species.
It's a premise that can't go wrong.
Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock will voice Scarlett Overkill—the character of the world's first ever super-villain whom the Minions want to serve. Jon Hamm is Herb Overkill, Scarlet's husband. Actors Michael Keaton, Steve Coogan, and Allison Janney also provide their voices to give life to the much-awaited prequel.
