'Destiny 2' release date, news, rumors: Sequel to feature full open world, MMO gameplay; to be released in 2017?
It has long been rumored that Bungie Game Studio is already preparing the much-awaited sequel to the hit action role-playing (ARPG) video game "Destiny," although there has been no confirmed release date regarding the said game title. For now, the rumors suggest that "Destiny 2" will be out sometime next year, featuring several changes from the original game.
According to the latest hot topics at the Neogaf forums, it is possible that "Destiny 2" will be completely not related to the first game. However, it is still possible that some original contents of the first "Destiny" will be featured in the sequel, although "Destiny 2" will have a different storyline. Therefore, the fans may no longer expect exactly the same theme and atmosphere of "Destiny" in the sequel. As an example, "Destiny 2" may introduce a new focus location that was already mentioned in the first game.
"Major focus is going to be on the Cabal and Saturn. Saturn is a playspace is set to be bigger than all of the playspaces currently implemented in the game combined," a Neogaf insider Shinobi1602 claimed.
Moreover, "Destiny 2" is also said to have a different gameplay setting. As reported by Kotaku, the fans of the original game are generally contented with the present features, but they have pointed out some constraints by the game's settings that may be stopping the gamers to fully enjoy the experience. With this, Bungie may decide to give the players more freedom in "Destiny 2" by making it a fully open world experience. Adding up to the good news is the possibility of the sequel having an MMO style of gameplay.
The sequel may also feature brand new ships that the players can use to explore different locations on the planet. Aside from this, a lot of exciting features can be expected especially that "Destiny 2" will be ported to the latest generation consoles, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
It is also rumored that "Destiny 2" will be playable on the PC platform, the first time that the series will be played outside of console versions.
