'Doctor Strange' release date news 2016: Benedict Cumberbatch is world's greatest magician in Jimmy Kimmel video
A lot of fans have been highly anticipating the release of Marvel's "Doctor Strange" this coming November, and marketing is already in full blast. Just recently, Benedict Cumberbatch went in full costume as Stephen Strange to star in a funny video for "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
In the video, Kimmel plays a father who hires Doctor Strange for a kid's party, mistaking him for a magician. What's interesting about the clip is, it gives fans a better look at Strange's arsenal as "The Mightiest Magician in the Cosmos."
Fans will immediately notice that the cloak of levitation that Strange has on doesn't fall naturally on his shoulders, but has more of a slanting appearance to it. Strange is also wearing the "sling ring," a device which helps him open portals to other places — he attempts to open a portal in the clip as well.
Kimmel also asks Strange about the "Eye of Agamotto," one of the most powerful artifacts in Strange's arsenal which some speculate to be an Infinity Stone.
The clip also gives more on Strange's arrogant attitude in the movie as well, and it's very reminiscent of Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) demeanor when he was first introduced in "Iron Man" back in 2008.
Though the movie hasn't been released in the US yet, reviews are already finding their way online — and the critics love it. As of now, "Doctor Strange" sits on a "certified fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans should expect the ratings to change once the movie is released, but as of now, anybody who's seen the movie is happy with Marvel's take on the Sorcerer Supreme.
"Batman v Superman" actually had great reviews before it came out to the masses but as time went on, the reception went from fresh to sour. Will "Doctor Strange" be in the same predicament or has Marvel Studios scored another home run?
"Doctor Strange" comes to cinemas this Nov. 4.
