'Doctor Strange' spoilers: Another major comic book villain to be included? 'Guardians of the Galaxy' connection teased
Two months prior to the official debut of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), more details about the film emerge.
According to the latest reports, there will be one more villain to expect apart from Mads Mikkelsen's Kaecilius. The Sorcerer Supreme will reportedly deal with Dormammu in the film.
The character is known to comic book fans as one of the greatest foes that Doctor Strange has ever come across. The speculation began when "Community" co-creator was tapped as a writer for the movie.
Harmon will help out with 11th-hour script modifications to the "Doctor Strange" movie. As for the kind of things he will write for the film, he might be the one to introduce Dormammu to the scene.
Reddit user Bifrost51 discovered that in the Harmontown Podcast for the San Diego Comic-Con, one of the recent files on Harmon's computer read "Strange Confronts Dormammu."
Although it appeared as a clear indication that Dormammu will be in the "Doctor Strange" movie, the Redditor warned that this piece of evidence may have only been planted by Harmon himself to mess with fans.
A document referencing to an unannounced "Community Movie" also had others thinking it was deliberately put there to throw fans off.
However, fans still hope that Dormammu will be in the film. Some of them speculated that the character might turn out to be using Kaecilius as a vessel to wreak havoc as he can't physically do it himself.
CinemaBlend adds that if this was the case, this would explain the black substance around Kaecilius' eyes. It was also imagined that if Dormammu will be in "Doctor Strange," he could be shown in his Dark Dimension in the credits and will be set up for a sequel.
The abovementioned site also suggested that with someone like Dormammu, limiting his stint in one film will not be enough considering how powerful he is and the history he and Strange has.
Meanwhile, it is being reported that "Doctor Strange" will be interconnected with "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" through a villain that was shown in a concept art.
Known as an abelisk, the villain with the tentacle was described by director James Gunn as "a multidimensional being" that the Guardians were hired to battle.
It is being said that, although they do not look entirely identical, this villain is the same one on the LEGO set for "Doctor Strange."
SlashFilm says that while this could foreshadow a possible connection of the two universes (LEGO has revealed the inclusion of Giant Man in "Captain America: Civil War") LEGO models sometimes tend to stray from the source.
"Doctor Strange" hits the cinemas on Nov. 4.
