'Downton Abbey' Spoilers, Plot Recap: Rose's Wedding Goes Ahead Despite Sabotage
Rose (Lily James) and her wedding to Atticus (Matt Barber) formed the most important part of the recent episode of "Downton Abbey."
It was a relief to all when she got married in spite of her mother's many attempts to sabotage the event.
The murder of Green (Nigel Harman) again came to the forefront as the staff and residents prepared for Rose's wedding. It came in the form of a police detective who arrived to question Anna (Joanne Froggatt), because he found out that Green was a serial rapist and she was one of his victims. When everyone went to London for Rose's wedding, her mother Susan (Phoebe Nicholls) and father Shrimpie (Peter Egan) arrived from India.
Susan did not like the news of Rose's engagement to Atticus, who is Jewish, and she hired a prostitute to waylay him during his stag party. The next day she presented the photos to Rose who immediately thought that Atticus had cheated on her. However, her father Shrimpie discovered that his wife Susan was involved and convinced Rose to go ahead with the wedding.
As for Anna and Bates (Brendan Coyle), as soon as they arrived in London, Anna was put into a lineup with other women raped by Green. A witness identified her as the woman who pushed Green under the bus, which led to her arrest later on.
Daisy (Sophie McShera), during a visit to a museum, understood that she had been missing out on life while working as a maid and she became disillusioned. This led to her telling Patmore (Lesley Nicol) that she planned to leave and go to London.
Attention then shifted to Rose's wedding in the Register's office. Susan made a final attempt to derail the marriage and announced her divorce from Shrimpie. However, Lady Sinderby (Penny Downie) prohibited Lord Sinderby (James Faulkner) from stopping the marriage, and it went ahead.
At the end of the hour, several loose ends were tied up as Robert (Hugh Bonneville) finally understood that Edith (Laura Carmichael) was Marigold's mother and he asked Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) about it for confirmation. Then Patmore found that Robert had commissioned a special memorial for her nephew. Daisy decided not to leave until her exam results came in.
