'Dragon Ball Super' spoilers, plot news: new arc revealed; Android 17 and Ultimate Gohan set for return
A new story arc for "Dragon Ball Super" will begin in February 2017. It is called "Universe Survival Arc" and was revealed at the ongoing 2016 Jump Festa event in Japan.
A trailer for the arc was unveiled at the event. It featured Gods of Destruction from 12 universes assembled by no other than the brawl-loving Omni-King.
As the ruler of all universes has expressed early on in "Dragon Ball Super," he is quite the fan of fights especially after watching the Universe 6 and 7 go head to head in a tournament held by Champa and Beerus.
It looks like the "Dragon Ball Super" arc will be the same, but with greater scope and a bigger and possibly more powerful roster set to duke it out, which also means greater damage and danger.
The synopsis for "Universe Survival Arc" is as follows:
"At Goku's request, the Omni-Kings' "Tournament of Power" martial arts tournament between universes now begins, but this also proves to be the beginning of universal destruction. What awaits the victors of this tournament, and the vanquished...?! How will these intense team battles between the elites of each universe turn out...?!"
Goku, Beerus and Supreme Kai were seen frozen in shock in the trailer after learning what's about to go down. This is not a surprise since the rule is that those who lose will suffer the destruction of their universe.
From the looks of it, this story arc will be an exciting one with a lot of promise. It also opens up the possibility to bring old and new characters.
Some of the fighters to join the fray include Android 17 and Ultimate Gohan, who are definitely dearly missed by fans who have been following "Dragon Ball Super."
The "Universe Survival Arc" will begin on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017.
