'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' roster news update: 68 characters revealed, more to be added; 'Dragon Ball Super' DLC on the table
"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will offer almost double the number of its roster as developer Dimps made sure to scour every "Dragon Ball" media there is in building the line-up.
The first game only gave users 47 playable characters to choose from. The sequel currently has 68 characters confirmed for the game, but Saiyan Island says this can bump up to 87.
Some of the characters to expect in "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" are Goku Super Saiyan God, Goku Super Saiyan Blue, Goku Super Saiyan 4, Super Perfect Cell, Vegito, Gogeta, Android 16, 17 and 18 among others.
Fans can check all 68 characters of the current roster here. Notice that the image does not even contain some of the characters from the first game as well as Goku Black from "Dragon Ball Super."
Some of them include Omega Shenron regular, Nuova Shenron, Ice Shenron, Hercule, Rasberry, First Form Frieza, and Videl. This is why the "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" roster could still climb up.
Meanwhile, it is still unclear if "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will somehow be connected to "Dragon Ball Super" since both build on the concept of time-travel.
However, it is important to note that the game was already well underway before the Future Trunks arc from the anime came about.
Dimps and Bandai Namco Entertainment know that there is a demand for "Dragon Ball Super" to be featured in the game.
Speaking to Crunchyroll, producer Masayuki Hirano said that they did their best to accommodate this last minute request and might even consider releasing downloadable content inspired by the anime.
"In terms of additional story and more content from 'Super,' we would like to look into these possibilities after the launch as well since we are getting a lot of voices from fans," Hirano said.
"They want more characters, they want more story. And it terms of whether it would be a spoiler for western players, we're not sure when these will be out so we'll have to see," he continued.
"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and personal computer (PC) on Oct. 25 in the United States and Oct. 28 in Europe.
