The much-awaited English-dubbed version of "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'" film will be screened in 74 countries including the U.S. in the summer of this year, the Funimation TV and film production company announced, without mentioning a specific date.

Funimation acquired the rights to the film including distribution, home entertainment, video on demand and broadcast.

The world premiere of the movie was held last April 11 at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles organized by Funimation Entertainment in cooperation with 20th Century Fox and Toei Animation.

"Series creator Akira Toriyama was directly involved in the film's production, just as he was in the highly successful 'Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods,'" Funimation said in its announcement.

In Japan, "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'" premiered in 658 screens in 2D and 3D last April 18.

According to Anime News Network, the film sold more than one million tickets in its first week in Japan and earned 1.29 billion yen (about $10.9 million) in the first six days.

"Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'" will also be released in Venezuela on June 5, Brazil and Chile on June 18, Ecuador on June 19, Colombia on June 26 and Spain on Nov. 5. The specific release date in the U.S. has not been announced.

"Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'" sold approximately 716,000 tickets to earn approximately 960 million yen (about US$8.1 million) in its first weekend. The film earned the biggest opening in terms of number of tickets sold and box office revenue in Japan so far in 2015," Anime News Network said.

The "F" in the film stands for "Frieza," who is revived in the movie, according to Akira Toriyama, who created "Dragon Ball Z."

"Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'" is the 19th Japanese animated feature film based on the "Dragon Ball Z" series.

The theme song "Z no Chikai" is performed by Japanese group Momoiro Clover Z.
