'Dragon Quest Heroes' Release Date PS4: New Game to Land Exclusively on PS4 in 2016
Gamers who have long eyed the popular action role playing game "Dragon Quest Heroes" will soon be able to get it on PS4. Square Enix, the makers of the game, announced recently that the game that was launched on Feb. 26 in Japan will soon become available also in the United States and Europe.
Prior to this announcement from Square Enix, "Dragon Quest Heroes" was reported due for release only in Japan.
However, there is one catch in that the game will be released exclusively for the PS4. This means there will be no version for other consoles. The announcement about the game's arrival on PS4 was made on the PlayStation blog. "Dragon Quest Heroes marks the first time the series will be a full scale action-RPG, and it's a ton of fun," the blog said.
In "Dragon Quest Heroes," players will be challenged by "seemingly insurmountable odds, swarms of enemies and will have to conquer gigantic monsters in an exhilarating action game," according to the Square Enix announcement.
Akira Toriyama, who worked on the Dragon Ball and Chrono Trigger franchises, created the characters for this particular game, in conjunction with Yuji Horii and Koichi Sugiyama.
When "Dragon Quest Heroes" is released in the U.S. this year, it will available for download directly from the PlayStation Store. The game will also be sold on a disc in stores. However, Square Enix has not announced the suggested retail price for the game.
As for those who have PS3 consoles, they will not be able to play the game since that version will remain localized to Japan. Dragon Quest 8 was launched on the PS2 in 2006.
Square Enix said more details will be made public over the next few months in the run-up to the game's launch in the United States and Europe.
Meanwhile in Japan, Sony has brought out a special customized PS4 console with a removable "Metal Slime" USB cover to mark the release of "Dragon Quest Heroes."
