'Elder Scrolls 6' release date news: Bethesda to release game 'Fallout 4' style, won't discuss it until actual launch
It is a given that it will take years before "Elder Scrolls 6" is released, and developer Bethesda Softworks will not make the wait easier. The company has plans to keep each precious detail a secret until it is ready to share new information about the game.
This is what Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines emphasized in an interview with PC Gamer. "You're not going to be hearing first details on [Elder Scrolls 6] years before the game comes out, absolutely not," Hines said.
"Anything we want to do from a PR-marketing perspective always has implications on the devs, right? Whether that's trying to capture video or trying to put together a demo: it's an additional ask above and beyond just working on the game," he explained.
Hines has also made it clear on Twitter multiple times that "Elder Scrolls 6" will remain a mystery until it is complete. Bethesda won't even say a word about the game while they work on it.
As of the moment, "Elder Scrolls 6" is not in active development and it won't be for a few years. Bethesda will first work on two massive titles before shifting their focus to the "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" sequel.
The installment isn't the priority of the developer right now. The two games preceding it are also top secret, but Bethesda has already said that it has big plans for "Elder Scrolls 6."
In fact, they have a vision so grand that today's technology might not be able to deliver what they have in mind for the much-awaited open world action role-playing video game.
With ambitious ideas for "Elder Scrolls 6" and the time Bethesda takes to put together a game as massive as this, it will definitely be an extremely long wait. Add to that the fact that the two titles to be launched before "Elder Scrolls 6" are said to be of the same scale as "Fallout" and "Elder Scrolls" titles, which typically take the studio four to five years to complete.
It is tough to speculate a release date for "Elder Scrolls 6," but considering Bethesda's silence, fans should get their mind off it first.
They can do so with the "Skyrim" Special Edition coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Oct. 28.
