'Elementary' season 5 spoilers: Sherlock and Joan to still live in the brownstone, Sherlock's romantic life to be explored further next season
Earlier this month, hit CBS crime drama "Elementary" was renewed for another season. The network seems to have enough faith in lead stars Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu's chemistry that the show was given a shot for season 5. Now, fans are wondering what's next for their favorite detective and his sober companion.
In the previous season, Sherlock seems to be following his father's footsteps by not being too close with anyone. According to executive producer Rob Doherty, the past four seasons saw Sherlock Holmes as someone who is "willing to pull more people in." There is a possibility that he will be open to more people entering his social circle. "As we get into season 5, he knows what works for him," Doherty told Entertainment Weekly. "He knows a good thing when he sees it. Lucky for him, he has many good things in his life now. That's not to say there won't be hard times. I don't believe he's going to make any changes that would echo the decision his father makes at the end of the finale."
Sherlock's romantic life is one of the highlights of the show and since he does not really have much of a social life, having a love interest is a huge leap for him. Doherty thinks that Fiona and Sherlock's story arc as lovers continues next season. "As we get into next season, Fiona is someone that we would like to see again. We'll see what the state is for that relationship after a few months have passed," the EP added. Meanwhile, Doherty also confirmed that Joan will still be living with Sherlock in the brownstone. It remains to be seen what kind of mess Morland left when he went to New York.
The premiere date for "Elementary" season 5 is yet to be announced by CBS. The first two seasons began airing in late September, while the third and fourth season premiered late October and early November. if one thing is for sure, the show will premiere this coming Fall.
