After her character, Margaery Tyrell, made an exit in the hit HBO TV series "Game of Thrones," actress Natalie Dormer is now rumored to make a comeback in the CBS crime drama thriller "Elementary," reprising her role as Sherlock Holmes' love interest.

There were speculations in the past that Dormer, 34, will return in "Elementary" through its upcoming fifth season, although there were no clear signs that the actress will be coming back after her part in "Game of Thrones" has been finished. Recently, "Elementary" executive producer Rob Doherty gave some hints regarding the possibility of Dormer's comeback in Season 5.

Doherty revealed that he is a huge "Game of Thrones" fan that he was deeply saddened by the death of Dormer's character in the series' Season 6 finale. However, he was also thrilled by the possibility that Dormer's exit in "Game of Thrones" could mean the actress is free to return to his own show. If confirmed, the actress is set to play the role of Irene Adler once again, the former love interest of Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller).

"I'm of two minds... As a tremendous fan of 'Game of Thrones,' I was really bummed to see her go. As an 'Elementary' writer, it's hard not to get your gears turning," said Doherty in an interview with TV Line.

Dormer's character has given more color to the show, as from being a special person in Sherlock's life, Irene Adler was later on revealed to be Jamie Moriarty, and turned out to be the detective's greatest enemy yet in the series. The character was not yet killed in the series, so it will be easier to show the comeback of Irene/Jamie in Season 5.

Meanwhile, aside from the rumored returning character in "Elementary" Season 5, two newcomers are expected to make the fifth season more exciting as ever. According to Movie News Guide, a new character, Shinwell Johnson, will be appearing next season for at least three episodes. To note, Shinwell Johnson is one of the original and classic characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in the "Sherlock Holmes" novel. In the TV version, he will be played by "True Blood" actor Nelsan Ellis, where he will be introduced as a former patient of Joan Watson (Lucy Liu).

Also, "The Mentalist" actor Owain Yeoman will be playing a special role as Sherlock's boarding school pal who will aid him in solving a murder case. Yeoman will appear in the 100th episode of "Elementary."
