'Empire' season 3 spoilers, plot news: Cookie to announce her romance with Angelo in front of a huge crowd
Cookie's (Taraji P. Henson) love life is blossoming while the rest of the Lyons will go through another major struggle in the midseason finale of "Empire" season 3.
According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode titled "A Furnace for Your Foe," Cookie will stage a free concert in the park to help her new beau Angelo Dubois (Taye Diggs) as her support for his mayoralty campaign.
In the previous episode, Angelo's mother Diana (Phylicia Rashad) could not hide her concern over the relationship between her son and Lucious Lyon's (Terrence Howard) ex-wife. Diana believed that Angelo was only tainting his reputation because of his association with one of the Lyons. However, the mayoralty candidate ignored his mother's warnings and decided to stay with Cookie.
Based on the trailer for the upcoming episode, Cookie and Angelo will announce their relationship in public during the free concert in the park.
The trailer also showed that Lucious will be in another deep trouble as he presents himself to his half-brother and FBI agent Tariq Cousins (Morocco Omari). This could mean that he and the rest of the Empire Entertainment company are in a lot of trouble.
TV Guide posted the synopsis for the upcoming episode, which reads: "In the fall finale, Cookie organizes a free park concert in order to help broaden Angelo's mass appeal while he works to win the mayoral bid. Elsewhere, the FBI freezes all of Empire's assets, a move that has major repercussions, as the investigation into Lucious continues."
Could this mean that Tariq will finally put the Lyon patriarch back behind bars for all of his illegal activities? Will his sons Andre (Trai Byers), Jamal (Jussie Smollett) and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Grey) allow the company that their father built go down in ashes?
The midseason finale of "Empire" season 3 will air on FOX on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
