The daughter of an African American man killed by police in New York City back in July has recently voiced her support for the families of two officers killed Saturday in New York City's Brooklyn borough.

Erica Gardner, daughter of Eric Gardner, a 43-year-old unarmed African American man who died back in the summer after police put him into a chokehold in Staten Island, New York, arrived Monday afternoon at a memorial for the two police killed by a suspect in Brooklyn on Saturday.

At the makeshift memorial service, Erica Gardner told NBC News that she stands in solidarity with the families of the two officers murdered Saturday.

"I just wanted to let the families know that we stand with them, my family to theirs. I send my heart and prayers out to them. Although it's a tragedy, we just want to let everybody know that we want to stand strong, we want to get through this holiday season, and it might be hard but we stand together," Gardner said.

This past Saturday, two New York City Police Officers, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, were shot to death in their squad car by Ismaaiyl Abdula Brinsley, a 28-year-old who had posted dozens of anti-police and anti-government messages on his social media. Brinsley had suggested via social media that he was going to kill two policemen to avenge the deaths of Gardner and another unarmed teen who died in Ferguson, Missouri named Michael Brown.
