'Fairy Tail' chapters 518, 519 spoilers: Irene vs. Erza battle to end in next chapter?

"Fairy Tail" is a popular manga series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima and has been serialized on the "Weekly Shounen Jump" magazine since 2006. | Kodansha Comics Official Website

Somewhere in the very pit of her jaded heart, the Queen of Dragons may have finally acknowledged Erza as an equal. But will this be enough to reignite her motherly instinct and save her daughter from sacrificing herself for her guildmates' sake?

The battle between mother and daughter may finally come to an end in the next chapter of long-running Japanese manga series "Fairy Tail." In the previous installment, Irene chose to undo Zeref's spell and turn into her true form, a dragon, which served to amplify both her physical strength and enchantment spells. She broke Erza with a single strike and used her upgraded Master Enchantment to summon an asteroid aimed at her daughter.

Not wanting everyone else on the battlefield to perish, Erza mustered up her remaining strength to meet the asteroid head on, sword in hand and a prayer shouted out to her late master Makarov for guidance and strength.

This unexpected show of selflessness and courage stuns Irene and makes her realize that she does not really know her own child after all. How will this affect the Scarlet Despair's resolve? Can she still proceed with destroying Erza, or will this be the one final nudge that breaks her hardened heart?

Chapter 519 titled "Show Me Your Smile" may well end in all sorts of tragedy. If Erza fails to stop the asteroid, a lot, if not all, of his guildmates will die. If she does manage to make it in time to crash against the asteroid, she could lose her life. And if by some miracle Irene decides to take the full brunt of destruction to save Erza, she could die without having felt the joys of motherhood that she had once looked forward to in a time long past.

Some fans are speculating that Erza may be able to stop the asteroid without losing her life and that the real problem is how she could possibly continue battling her mother afterward?

There are other fans who are wondering if the awe Irene displayed by the end of the previous chapter could lead to some rather significant developments in the battle between mother and daughter. And that by some form of tragic irony, Irene may just rediscover the humanity she has lost only after transforming into a dragon.

Then again, Hiro Mashima may end up blowing everyone's mind with a twist of his own doing when a new chapter of "Fairy Tail" comes out in the next issue of Weekly Shounen Magazine.
