'Fallout 4' PS4 mods release date news 2016: Bethesda says Sony refused to release feature

After months of delay, the PlayStation 4 mods for the "Fallout 4" might not see the light of day after all. Bethesda Softworks has finally opened up about the feature in a recent blog post that bears a bad news for fans.

"After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PS4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition," Bethesda wrote.

The company's vice president Pete Hines has been saying on Twitter that they were waiting for the result of the evaluation process being conducted on the "Fallout 4" PS4 mods by Sony.

The feature was supposed to be released back in June but was delayed because of issues with sound support as well as upload limit and overall performance.

Bethesda knows that fans will be frustrated by the news and even shared the sentiment especially thinking about the blood and sweat poured into the "Fallout 4" PS4 mods as well as the length of time fans were made to wait.

"We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available," Bethesda stated.

The future has become bleaker for the "Fallout 4" PS4 mods, which should have been out months ago. Bethesda promises fans to figure out other methods to bring the feature to the console.

Eurogamer.net notes that Microsoft, which gave the Xbox One Mod a go months back, has already made the most out of Sony practically denying fans of the mod support with a tweet sent out shortly after Bethesda broke the disappointing news.
