Faraday Future has been teasing its electric vehicle (EV) ahead of its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2017. The Chinese-backed American start-up tech company has been releasing videos and photos of the production car that is poised to become a Tesla Model X rival.

Based on what has been revealed so far, the Faraday Future car will be featuring unique headlights. There is also a curved LED strip running across the front fascia, similar to the one featured in the FFZERO 1 concept vehicle. The latticework on the grille is only for show, given that the vehicle will be electric, thus, no engine.

At the rear, the same wide LED strip is seen with additional lights underneath which has a similar pattern as the latticework on the grille. A retractable Lidar sensor is also seen, hinting at the autonomous technology featured in the vehicle. Faraday Future has previously revealed its plans to build a self-driving car.

Then, on the side, a camera replaces the wing mirror in order to increase the car's aerodynamics. However, this feature is still banned in most countries including the United States, so it's unlikely to make it to the production version of the car.

The Faraday Future EV is expected to be a sports utility vehicle. It has a low, sleek stance and will be built using the Variable Product Architecture platform.

Production on Faraday Future's EV is expected to begin sometime in 2017. However, there is concern over this timeline as the company has been experiencing a few setbacks as of late.

According to Business Insider, Faraday Future's primary investor, LeEco CEO Jia Yueting, sent out an email to his staff in November saying that the company was facing a cash shortage. Soon after, Faraday Future stopped the construction of its factory in Las Vegas, Nevada after failing to pay its contractor, AECOM. Despite these issues, it seems that Faraday Future is optimistic about its future as it prepares for the EV's unveiling next year.

Those looking to learn more about the upcoming vehicle can sign up for Faraday Future's online newsletter which will include updates and a behind-the-scenes look at the car.

The world premiere of the Faraday Future EV is all set for CES 2017, which will be held in Las Vegas on Jan. 5 to 8, 2017.
