'Fargo' season 3 spoilers: cast drops hints about season 3 plot
While filming for "Fargo" season 3 remains underway, new details about the next installment of the crime-drama anthology are slowly starting to come out.
FX presented the main cast of "Fargo" season 3 during a panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour last week.
Lead star Ewan McGregor revealed that his dual-character portrayal as twin brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy for the upcoming season of "Fargo" could be considered as his most challenging role to date, especially since he has to use the show's signature accent.
"It's the hardest accent I've ever done. And I did Dutch once in something. I thought that was quite hard, but this is worse," the Scottish actor stated during the press panel as reported by New York Post. "And also because it's very familiar, it's an accent that everybody we know from the movie and from Season 1 and 2, so our audience's ear is attuned to it."
The upcoming season of "Fargo" will also feature a smaller cast compared with the show's first two installments. According to executive producer Warren Littlefield, the upcoming season will have a more intimate story compared with the past seasons. According to Littlefield, the smaller cast will allow them to introduce a deeper story for each new characters.
On the other hand, the third season of "Fargo" will finally incorporate social media into the story since the events will revolve during 2010. "[Creator Noah Hawley] is enjoying that technology, in many ways, is supposed to unite, and in fact, perhaps that's not what happens at all," Littlefield stated.
"Fargo" season 3 will also feature Carrie Coon as Gloria Burgle, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Nikki Swango, David Thewlis as V.M. Vargas, Jim Gaffigan as Donny Mashman, Scoot McNairy as Maurice LeFay, Shea Whigham as Moe Dammick, and Karan Soni as Dr. Homer Gilruth, among others.
FX will launch the premiere episode of "Fargo" season 3 sometime in spring 2017.
