'Fast and Furious 8' release date, cast news 2016: Major character not returning
Actress Jordana Brewster will not reprise her role as Mia Toretto in "Fast and Furious 8." The actress revealed the news in her latest interview.
"They are done. I am not in it so far, but we will see," Brewster revealed to Kevin McCarthy while promoting her new television series "Lethal Weapon" when asked if she has filmed for "Fast and Furious 8" seeing that the production has ended.
McCarthy was shocked and said that the star should be in the film, to which Brewster agreed. However, for now, fans, like the actress, will have to wait and see what is decided upon.
Cinema Blend says that Mia might miss out on the action in the next and final two films of the franchise as well, but with the cast tight as family, and the sage nearing its end, she could be brought back to properly cap it all off.
Fans of the "Fast and Furious" franchise know that the character of Brewster was heavily connected with Brian O'Connor, who was played by the late actor Paul Walker.
With the biggest connection of Mia to the story gone, it appears that "Fast and Furious 8" found no place for her to be part of the story. The Brian character was retired and this is purportedly the same for Jordana.
The way things ended in "Fast and Furious 7," Brian leaving the group to be with his family man, it suggested that Jordana won't be in "Fast and Furious 8."
However, some fans hope that Mia will still be there even for a cameo, but it appears that this might not be the case. It is a mystery what the last two films in the series have in store for her.
Meanwhile, cast member Michelle Rodriguez who plays Letty in the films, recently spoke about Walker and his impact on "Fast and Furious 8."
"Paul's the heart of it. He's the guy who really loved the genre, he loved that lifestyle. And not having that love affair with cars and that lifestyle, it removed a certain aspect of the soul of the franchise and it hurts all of us and we all know it," Rodriguez said via Cinema Blend.
"Fast and Furious 8" will be in cinemas April 14, 2017.
