Universal Pictures has recently unleashed the first full trailer for the upcoming eighth installment of the "Fast and Furious" film franchise, which has been renamed as "The Fate of the Furious" in the United States while retaining the name "Fast and Furious 8" internationally. The official trailer was unveiled during a launch event held in New York City's Time Square on Dec. 11.

The new trailer features several insane scenes and gravity-defying car stunts, as reported by Independent. Tej Parker (Ludacris) is seen wiping out at least five pursuing cars with a pre-arranged wrecking ball deployment. At some point, he also gets himself a tank. Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) is also seen staging a jailbreak.

Meanwhile, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) may be taking on the role of a turn cloak who betrays his entire family, and it seems like the newest "Fast and Furious" villain, Cipher (Charlize Theron), had something to do with it. In one of the scenes in the movie, Dom is seen escaping police capture by driving his car onto a plane as it takes off.

Based on the trailer, it also looks like fans can expect "The Fate of the Furious" to feature an arctic chase involving snowmobiles, armored vehicles, an orange Lamborghini, and a submarine.

"Fast and Furious 8" has scenes taking place in different parts of the globe. According to the film's official synopsis, the movie will be taking place from "the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea."

The series has always prided itself for its heart-thumping action and insane high-speed chases. However, more than that, it is also known for its sincere focus on the concept of family. And for the first time since the first film was released, the "Fast and Furious" family had to move forward without actor and "Fast and Furious" family member Paul Walker after his tragic death in 2013.

"The Fate of the Furious" is set to hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
