'Fast and Furious 8' spoilers: Paul Walker's character Brian O'Conner cameo in the cards?
"Fast and Furious 8" may not be the first film without Brian O'Conner after all. Although the late Paul Walker's beloved character was practically retired in the previous installment, he might still appear in the next film.
This is what Walker's brothers Cody and Caleb implied during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, where they revealed that such prospect has come up.
"I had a phone call with Vin [Diesel] for about an hour and we really discussed this a while back," Caleb said, revealing that the actor and Walker's good friend "wanted [our] blessing."
Caleb said that Diesel, who reprised his role as Dominic Toretto in "Fast and Furious 8," asked them if it will be "acceptable to maybe bring Paul's character back."
Diesel said that bringing the character back to "Fast and Furious 8" even just for a short while will "really kind of let his fans know he's still out there."
Caleb added that "Universal wants to make sure to be respectful of Paul and his image too, and his family." They did not specify if they agreed to do so.
In the previous film, the plot saw Brian part ways with the group to focus on his family as a way to retire the character. This also meant that Brian's wife Mia Toretto played by Jordana Brewster won't be in "Fast and Furious 8."
Brewster recently said in an interview that she was not called to return in the new film, even adding that they "are done."
It is unclear if Walker's character will appear in some way or form in "Fast and Furious 8," but he certainly was the driving force behind it.
"Paul's the heart of it, he's the guy who really loved the genre, he loved that lifestyle," Michelle Rodriguez said as quoted by People Magazine.
"And not having that love affair with cars and that lifestyle, it removed a certain aspect of the soul of the franchise and it hurts all of us and we all know it," she continued.
"Fast and Furious 8" hits the cinemas April 14, 2017.
