Father of Paris Terror Suspect Says He Would Have 'Killed Son' To Prevent Attack
The father of one of the attackers who carried out the recent Paris terror attack has told media outlets that he would "have killed" his son if he had known his plans of destruction.
Said Mohamed-Aggad, father of one of the terrorists Foued Mohamed-Aggad, recently told the AFP that he is "surprised" by the news that his son was involved in the November 13 terror attack that left 130 people dead.
Foued was reportedly one of the gunmen who opened fire on an Eagles of Death Metal concert that left 90 dead at the Le Bataclan theater.
"Of course I'm surprised," the father told the AFP, adding that "I would have killed him myself beforehand" had he known his son was planning to take part in the massacre.
French intelligence only recently announced Foued Mohamed-Aggad's involvement in the November attack. The 23-year-old reportedly moved to Syria two years ago with his brother to join the Islamic State.
Hailing from Strosbourg, France, the 23-year-old was reportedly recruited to the Middle East by Mourad Fares, who works to recruit young jihadists to join Middle Eastern terror groups.
As the BBC reports, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve has previously described Fares as "particularly dangerous individual close to jihadist terrorist movements."
A spokesperson from the Paris prosecutor's office reportedly added to NBC News that Foued's mother received a text message following the November 13 terror attack announcing that her son had become a maryr for the Islamic religion.
