'Fear the Walking Dead' season 2 episode 8 spoilers, plot news: Where is Nick headed to? Will the apocalypse worsen Chris' state?
The midseason finale of "Fear the Walking Dead" titled "Shiva" has offered more questions than answers. However, there are a few teases to keep fans in anticipation for the show's return in a couple of months' time.
Showrunner Dave Erickson teased about Daniel Salazar (Ruben Blades) being back in the third season instead and in an "organic way." He also tried to elaborate on Nick Clark's (Frank Dillane) and Chris Manawa's (Lorenzo James Henrie) actions. In addition, fear and speculations arise from the short episode 8 promotional video from AMC.
The video commences with a Jeep being driven down a road which appears to be blocked by many walkers. The screen switches to a scene between two characters, one of them is a woman warning the other about the world not being safe. The scene changes back to Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) who must have stepped out of the vehicle and now walks right toward the cluster of walkers. He has his gun pulled out. Then the screen adjusts toward a scene displaying the undead consuming some flesh.
Nick is shown next. He is rushing in the woods but the scene shows no clues about where he is going and what his intentions are. Erickson explained in a previous interview with TV Line that Nick will be reconnecting with someone when the zombie spinoff series comes back with episode 8.
The trailer also flashes a scene wherein a seemingly terrified woman yet putting up a brave façade is ready to fight with a baseball bat in hand and is apparently admonishing someone loudly.
Then cameras are back on Nick who looks as if he has found a way to concoct drugs amid the zombie apocalypse, with certain supplies necessary to boil something such as rock, leaves, spoon and foil.
The promotional trailer then ends with an injured survivor in the middle of a road suffering from a serious wound on his leg.
Looking back on the midseason finale, Erickson discussed with TV Line Chris' transition from being troubled to utter dangerous. He called the character a child of divorce who is thrown into the apocalypse while already ironically feeling alienated and alone. Chris has a lot of anger toward his father and his greatest fear is to be exiled and be misunderstood or misjudged. And so with circumstances that the world provides him with, it is hardly surprising that the character comes out stable, explained Erickson.
"Fear the Walking Dead" will continue its season 2 on Aug. 21 at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
