'Fifty Shades Darker' news: Dakota Johnson addresses relationship rumors between her and co-star Jamie Dornan
When Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan signed up to play troubled lovers Ana and Christian working toward their happily ever after in the movie adaptation of the "Fifty Shades" novels, they both know that it is not just a one-time gig. Lo and behold, the two reunites last year to film that last two installments of the franchise. "Fifty Shades Darker," due next month and "Fifty Shades Freed" were produced back-to-back for the continuation of the 2015 blockbuster hit, "Fifty Shades of Grey." Despite having been already locked in for such a long period and process for the job, many still concoct rumors about the co-stars.
As it turns out, Johnson is not unaware of the malicious news floating around. As the Hollywood daughter graces the February cover of Vogue, she briefly addresses the talks regarding the real nature of her relationship with Dornan.
"We hate each other and we're having an affair, so everybody's right. How about that," she laughingly said acknowledging the conflicting rumors about her and her co-star.
Dornan is now a father of two and is married to actress/musician Amelia Warner while Johnson's dating life is pretty much a mystery. She was seen a couple of times hanging out with Matthew Hitt but the latest word is that they have already broken up. From there, a lot of rumors have been spun about the two since they were signed for the "Fifty Shades" threequel.
In reality, both actors have been adamant that while there are definitely no romantic inkling between them, they do have a good friendly relationship enough for them to work well with one another. And according to Johnson, this camaraderie helps a whole lot in terms of filming sensitive scenes that are a pivotal part of Ana and Christian's story.
"Jamie and I worked so incredibly closely for so long. There were no inhibitions, and it was very honest, very trusting," the 27-year-old actress stated. "There's no makeup. There are no clothes to tell you a bit about the story. There's no jewelry to give you a clue about social status. So it becomes purely about the performance."
"Fifty Shades Darker," which is the middle narrative from the franchise, follows Christian and Ana as they face past and future obstacles in their relationship. The film introduces new characters from the enigmatic billionaire's past, which may dampen his pursuit of a simpler life with Ana.
Directed by Jame Foley, the film is set to hit the theaters Feb. 10.
