Fifty Shades Of Grey Movie Release Date News: Buzz Grows Ahead Of Valentine Day Premiere
"Fifty Shades of Grey" is generating a lot of buzz ahead of its Feb. 13 opening day. Estimated to earn over $45 million during the four-day weekend that extends over Valentine's Day, the movie is much anticipated not only by viewers but also a variety of groups and companies that have started utilizing the erotic, or the so-called BDSM, theme in the film to promote their causes and products.
The letters in "BDSM" stand for such erotic practices as bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadomasochism.
One major group of activists that helps victims of domestic violence has protested the showing of the film which centers on a consensual BDSM relationship between Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and asked people to boycott it.
They have also started the "#50DollarsNot50Shades" campaign and asked people to donate the money they would spend seeing the film and on related activities such as snacks and hiring a baby sitter. The money, according to the group, will go towards helping victims of abusive relationships that allegedly are glamorized in "Fifty Shades of Grey."
As for the film itself, two more teasers from it were released by the studio. In one Grey visited Steele at a hardware store where she worked. There he gets her to help with locating cable ties, masking tape and red rope. In another clip the two met in his office where Grey offered her an internship in his company.
Meanwhile the upcoming release of the movie has resulted in more light being shed on the fights the director Sam Taylor-Johnson had with author E.L James. James is said to have disagreed with how Johnson interpreted her book for the film. This resulted in several on set fights between the two, especially pertaining to the filming of erotic scenes that involved BDSM.
The Hollywood Reporter noted that the approximately 100-minute film devotes 20 minutes to intimate scenes between Grey and Steele.
