"Final Fantasy 15" is ripe for more new content to come next year, but one of its earlier ones, "Justice Monster 5," will actually go offline as Square Enix pulls the plug on the spin-off title.

"Justice Monster 5" is an in-game, side-flipper feature that can be played on the newly released open-world action title. However, it was actually already available on the market even before "Final Fantasy 15" rolled out as a standalone release for mobile devices that capitalize on microtransactions.

The announcement came via the game's official Twitter account on which it was detailed that "Justice Monster 5" will officially shut down on March 27, 2017 following the disabling of microtransactions as early as Feb. 27. While the folks behind the project were deeply saddened that they have to let go of it, they also took the time to thank all of the fans who have supported the mobile game in its short stint.

In light of "Final Fantasy 15" mobile spinoffs, another one — "King's Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon" — has also received some bad news, with the confirmation that it will not be able to reach its target release date of 2016. The development is not very surprising given the number of days left in the year and no promotional material for it has been disseminated as of today. Still, it can be a bit of a downer for those who were relentlessly hoping that somehow Square Enix will be able to pull something last minute.

The company did not give a rescheduled launch date although they were quite adamant that the game is still in production and promised that once it is set with the team, they will immediately announce it. Presales for "King's Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon" have already started as early as September for both Android and iOS users.

Despite these less-than-welcome developments, "Final Fantasy 15" the main game is actually doing pretty good in terms of units sold. Game director Hajime Tabata recently revealed in a conversation with IT Media, picked up by Attack of the Fanboy, that they are happy with the reception that the title has been garnering and with a bulk of the sales coming from outside of Japan.
