'Final Fantasy XIV' Stormblood Expansion release date to come in June 2017
Square Enix revealed that the next "Final Fantasy XIV" expansion will be released on June 20, 2017.
During the franchise's Fan Festival in Tokyo, the game developer confirmed the downloadable content's (DLC) official release date through the game's Twitter account.
Early reports claimed that the events of the "Final Fantasy XIV" Stormblood expansion will be held on the place called Ala Mhigo, where players will have to battle against the game's baddie named XIIth Legion Legatus Zenos yae Galvus, the ruler of the occupied city.
The expansion will also bring several new areas, including a fourth residential area where new Primals, high-end raids and dungeons will be added to the game. It will also bring a lot of contents that can be comparable to a full standalone game.
According to a previous press release from game director Naoki Yoshida that was posted on iDigitalTimes, "The main concept is getting Ala Mhigo back into Eorzean control from the Garlean empire."
The special collector's edition will also come with a special package featuring an original art work by Yoshitaka Amano, a limited-edition Zenos figure, a Stormblood art book, a cloth map of Eorzea, an original decal, as well as in-game items like the Syldra Mount, Wind-up Bartz Minion, and the Red Mage Main Arm: Chicken Knife.
It was also revealed that the upcoming expansion will also contain the new Red Mage job, as well as the playable character's ability to dive and swim.
Aside from the new details about the new expansion pack, the "Final Fantasy" Fan Festival also unveiled a new high-level raid called "The Bend of Time-Omega" as well as a new alliance raid called "Return to Ivalice."
The game developer also mentioned that the next patch 3.5 update for the game will be released in two parts next year. The first one will come out in January 17, while the second one will be released in March.
