'Final Fantasy XV' release date rumors updates: Game director shares FFXV details; game will not be in an open world
New updates on gameplay of "Final Fantasy XV" have been discussed during Square Enix's Active Time Report, a frequently released video bulletin, which recently featured "Final Fantasy XV" director Hajime Tabata.
The details discussed by Tabata in the video, which is originally entirely in Japanese, were summarized in bullet points by Dual Shockers. "Final Fantasy XV" will not be located in a totally open world. Piloting the airship might prove to be more difficult. Noctis' The Regalia can outrace the Chocobos. These are some of Tabata's updates.
According to Tabata, the game will not be in a fully open world. Players will not be able to go anywhere at any time. Instead, the "Final Fantasy XV" environment will be presenting a variety of large locations in a certain sequence. As players progress through the game, so will the locations to be explored widen in terms of area size and diversity. The "Final Fantasy XV" director also confirms that the game's character progression will be somehow the same with a skill tree to be able to acquire new abilities.
Tabata further stressed that "Final Fantasy XV" may appear to be an action game in its trailers, but it is in fact a role-playing game (RPG) in essence. Therefore, a player need not have a very good grip of action games in order to enjoy and be successful at playing "Final Fantasy XV." The game will gradually present and acquaint players with its systems and will provide difficulty options for the gamers who wish to adjust and make modifications in it.
Although Tabata disclosed rather minimally about the story in connection with the weapons in Armiger, he did reveal that the protagonist Noctis will have a total of seven different weapons at his disposal.
With regard to aircraft, piloting in "Final Fantasy XV" will be requiring more involvement from the players than it did in the past installments of the video game franchise. Tabata said that while taking off will be easy, he later on advised that landing will be slightly trickier. He further warned that in the event of a crash, players will have to start all over from before the flight.
Meanwhile, gamers can make the Chocobos roll much faster by feeding them. However, Noctis' ride named The Regalia will still be able to outperform the Chocobos' speed.
"Final Fantasy XV" is slated to come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in September. A PC version might be released later although there are no specific details on this development yet.
