'Five Nights At Freddy's' movie release date, spoilers: Scott Cawthon yet to receive update on film from 'more appropriate people'
It turns out that "Five Nights At Freddy's" series creator Scott Cawthon is also on standby for updates about the movie adaptation of his hit survival horror video game franchise.
"To be honest, I'm waiting myself," Cawthon wrote on Steam Community in response to a fan who asked about the status of the "Five Nights At Freddy's" movie.
"Even though I own the IP, there are more appropriate people that should be giving an update on the movie. I'm going to give them more time (before I give an update myself)," he explained.
When the "Five Nights At Freddy's" movie project was first announced last year, it was said that Cawthon will be very much involved in the whole process.
Ever since the reveal, there has not been any concrete update. The last time Cawthon gave an update prior to this was back in May, when he gave an update on the script development.
"The script is still being worked on. The people involved are taking the movie seriously, which is definitely a good thing," the game developer wrote.
Gil Kenan, who will direct the "Five Nights At Freddy's" film adaptation, has not discussed anything about the film since April, where he extinguished the fears of fans about the project being shelved.
"No, not canceled, just in the very long script development phase… Still working on it!" the filmmaker stated on Twitter around that time.
The lack of updates definitely gives fans the impression that the "Five Nights At Freddy's" film could be treading water, but it appears that development is at a slow pace.
The fact that Cawthon himself has no update about the project has many once again thinking it is not moving forward. However, the developer implied that the movie adaptation is still on the table.
For now, fans will just have to wait until the people involved in the "Five Nights At Freddy's" movie production are ready to give out fresh information.
