Former Planned Parenthood Director Says Abortion Provider Overcharges for Fetal Body Parts
A former Planned Parenthood director turned pro-life activist has said that the abortion provider overcharges for the procurement of aborted fetal body parts.
Abby Johnson, a former director of Planned Parenthood in Texas who is now a pro-life activist, told The Christian Post in a recent interview that although the abortion provider only needs under $10 to ship aborted fetal body parts to laboratories, it will often charge over $100 for each baby.
"Shipping only costs a clinic $4 to $10 but they are sometimes charging $100 to $200 for each baby," Johnson told The Christian Post in a recent interview.
"They are charging additional fees, but in reality there are no additional fees except for minimal shipping costs," Johnson continued. "There is definitely money to be made and that's an issue with the current law."
Johnson's comments come after two undercover photos show Planned Parenthood executives discussing the costs associated with the preservation and transportation of aborted fetal body parts.
While women seeking an abortion may opt to have the fetus' body parts donated to science for research, the two videos have raised the question of whether Planned Parenthood profits from this donation, an act that is illegal based on federal law.
The recent videos have resulted in lawmakers pushing bills that would cut off federal funding to Planned Parenthood, as well as several lawmakers calling on Congress to investigate the organization to ensure it is not profiting off of fetal body parts.
