Evangelist Franklin Graham has responded to claims by a college professor that Muslims and Christians worship the same God.

The son of world-renowned evangelist Bill Graham posted on Twitter his response on the issue surrounding Wheaton College's decision not to terminate the college professor who made the statement. Graham said in the post that the claim is 'no minor issue.'

Political science professor, Larycia Hawkins, was put on administrative leave by the school after she wore a hijab, a piece of clothing only worn by Muslim women, when she entered the college's premises in December. According to a Breitbart, Hawkins did it in support of Muslims after the attacks in Paris, and the shooting incident in San Bernardino.

She said that the gesture also came with her belief that both Muslims and Christians worship the same God.

Wheaton College, a private evangelical Christian college, condemned the action, which led to Hawkins' administrative leave.

But after deliberation of the college's faculty council, they came up with the decision not to fire the college professor.

In the social media post, Graham was not pleased with the decision and what it meant for Wheaton College.

"I'm surprised and disappointed that the faculty council there is now recommending the college drop their plans to terminate a professor who published that she believed Islam and Christianity worship the same God in December," he expressed.

In addition, Graham elaborated on the fact that the Allah of the Muslims is not the God of Christians. He cited one reason which is Muslims do not recognize Jesus Christ as God, but merely a prophet. If Christ is not God, then it just means Islam does not recognize the same God that Christianity does, he stated.
