'Frozen 2' cast news, spoilers: Major cast shakeup happening?
There are rumors going around that Idina Menzel will be replaced by Demi Lovato for the role of Queen Elsa in the highly-anticipated sequel, "Frozen 2."
Lovato has a version of the "Frozen" hit "Let It Go" released prior to the first movie's debut. Menzel was, of course, the one who belted out the sensational hit in the film.
There are no details to corroborate the reports about Lovato taking over for Menzel in "Frozen 2." Prior to this rumor, the latter has actually been talking about the much-awaited sequel.
Menzel is often asked about the direction of the character of Elsa in the upcoming movie as many have been campaigning to "give Elsa a girlfriend."
The "Wicked" star has expressed interest about it although she does not promise that it will happen, but she said that she is all for it should Disney take that route.
"I think it's a wonderful idea. It's a wonderful conversation that we should all have about whether a Disney princess or queen could be gay," Menzel told Miley Cyrus during her appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
This was also her stance when she spoke to PrideSource about Elsa getting a female love interest in "Frozen 2" although she warned fans that she "can't promise anybody that that's what's gonna happen."
"But deep down am I really happy that it's causing people to talk about it and have these kinds of conversations? Yeah, I am," the actress said.
The script for "Frozen 2" is still being worked on at the moment and cast member Kristen Bell, who voices Princess Anna, said that the writers are taking their time in stitching the story together.
There are huge pressure and high expectations in following up the original, which went on to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
With regards to the release date, "Frozen 2" is expected to hit the cinemas in 2018 at the earliest.
