'Frozen 2' release date, update & rumors: Taylor Swift joining voice cast to replace Idina Menzel?
"Frozen 2" is definitely happening as the sequel of the hit Disney film is already reportedly under development. However, there is still no word on when it will arrive on the big screen.
There are reports saying that "Frozen 2" will premiere sometime in 2018. And since it's going to be a long wait, fans should expect lots of changes and new things to be added into the film like new characters. There are speculations going around saying that the second installment of "Frozen" will feature a snow woman, who is said to be paired with Olaf (Josh Gad).
Meanwhile, rumor has it that Elsa (Idina Menzel) will also find her own soulmate. In the first movie, Elsa had no prince charming so it's possible that she will meet her one true love in the second movie. However, reports say that Menzel will be departing her role as the Queen of Arendelle, which means the character's future is in jeopardy.
Still, Disney can easily replace Menzel. There is hearsay suggesting that production is already looking for another star to voice Elsa. Though nothing is confirmed yet, the rumor mill is packed with reports saying Taylor Swift will be taking the place of Menzel. She is also said to be singing the theme song of the movie.
Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande are also said to be choices to play the part of Elsa. As for why Menzel will leave, reports say that she is preparing for her wedding.
As of now, nothing is really certain about the details of the sequel but Disney already confirmed that Kristen Bell and Gad will return to reprise their roles as Princess Anna and Olaf respectively. Major twists to the storyline and the continuation of Anna and Kristoff's (Jonathan Groff) love story are expected to unfold in "Frozen 2."
Fans will have to stay tuned for more updates.
