'Frozen 2' release date, spoilers news update: Original 'Frozen' movie makes TV premiere with documentary film
There remains no news about the development for the highly anticipated sequel, "Frozen 2." However, there are tons of projects to help fans get by the wait.
"Frozen" will make its television premiere on ABC today, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. ET and 10 p.m. ET. It will be followed by a documentary, "The Making of Frozen: A Return to Arendelle," where fans will be taken behind the scenes of how the highest grossing animated film of all time came together.
The press release teases that the "Frozen" documentary film gives will treat fans with the story of the origin and evolution of the film.
"A breathtaking and fantastic saga, the special tells the real story of making a modern movie based on a timeless tale that nearly overnight became a cultural touchstone for legions of fans," the official statement reads.
It will also include "an exclusive sneak peek of an all-new, all-original holiday special" set for release holiday next year. It will see Elsa (Idina Menzel), Anna (Kristen Bell) and the whole gang in a Christmas adventure.
Just recently, four LEGO animated shorts titled "LEGO Disney Frozen Northern Lights" premiered on Disney Channel, where the voice cast reprised their roles.
As for "Frozen 2," it looks like fans will not see it on the big screen anytime soon. It looks like the focus is still on the holiday special at the moment.
There is no news with regard to the plot of the sequel although fans hope that "Frozen 2" will make Elsa the first gay princess in the history of Disney.
Speaking about the possibility, Menzel said, "I think it's a wonderful idea. It's a wonderful conversation that we should all have about whether a Disney princess or queen could be gay," Menzel told Miley Cyrus during her appearance in "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
At the moment, "Frozen 2" is slated for 2018.
