'Fuller House' season 2 air date news, spoilers: Family series returns this week with tons of holiday cheers
Fans of "Fuller House" are in for a treat as the Netflix original series' sophomore season kicks off this week. Holiday-themed episodes, new faces, returning characters, and a high school reunion are just some of the things to look forward to in the upcoming 13-episode run, along with the much-anticipated appearance of a famous '90s boyband.
"Fuller House" season two will let the show's viewers in on how the Tanners, Fullers, and Gibblers will be celebrating the holidays. During a guest appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" last Dec. 4, actresses Candace Cameron-Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber, who play D.J., Stephanie, and Kimmy respectively, shared some teasers about the upcoming season.
"Season 2 is all about the holidays, so we're celebrating Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve," Cameron-Bure shared. She also mentioned that season 2 will feature special appearances from "a ton of great guest stars," and went on to describe how the three of them gushed over the New Kids on the Block when the band came on set.
"It was like those emojis with hearts coming out of the eyes, that was us," Barber said, describing the experience.
Sweetin and Barber's own daughters will also be making special cameos in an episode of the upcoming season, and Barber described it as "a very full circle moment" for them since they were now the ones filling out work permits for their kids.
Aside from the three main cast members, "Full House" veterans Bob Saget, John Stamos, Lori Loughlin, Dave Coulier, and twins Blake and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit will also be reprising their respective roles in the same recurring capacity they did in the show's freshman season. Fans can also expect more appearances from supporting characters Lola (Ashley Liao), Matt (John Brotherton), Fernando (Juan Pablo DiPace) and Steve (Scott Weinger)
Additionally, actress Maria Sokoloff will be returning as Stephanie's friend, Gia, while Hal Sparks has taken over the role of Nelson, D.J.'s ex-beau whom she will meet at their high school reunion. Adam Hagenbuch will also be joining the cast as Kimmy's little brother, Jimmy, who may or may not become Stephanie's love interest.
The official trailer teases more interesting stuff happening at the Tanners' family home, including D.J. finally deciding on who to choose between Matt and Steve.
All 13 episodes of "Fuller House" season 2 will be available on Netflix starting Friday, Dec. 9.
