'Galavant' news and updates: Season 1 and 2 available on Netflix
Fans of the period musical "Galavant" were disappointed when the show was cancelled after its second season, but there's hope for a third season yet. The first two seasons of the show have been uploaded to Netflix and fans know that if the show gets good ratings, Netflix may pick it up and renew it for another season.
When it comes to Netflix renewals, fans who opt to binge-watch the show could very much save it. Not so long ago, the showrunners of the animated series "Young Justice" asked fans to binge-watch the show in order to raise ratings and get Netflix interested in a renewal of "Young Justice." The same could hold true for the future of "Galavant."
The show follows a knight named Galavant (Joshua Sasse) as he tries to save his true love (Mallory Jansen) from marrying the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson) who had stolen her away from Galavant and locked her in his castle.
The show's music comes from writers Alan Menken and Glenn Slater, the former being the musical genius behind the songs from films like "Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast," "Hercules," and "Tangled." Slater also has his fair share of work with Disney, but has also found himself work in Seth Rogen movies like "Neighbors" and "Sausage Party."
The combination of just the right amount of fairy tales and adult humor makes "Galavant" a unique treat for anyone looking for a medieval musical series; one could even compare the show to have the same beats as "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."
As of now, the future of "Galavant" is uncertain but with higher numbers in viewership, fans of the show may get the third season they're hoping for. There is also news of a possible live-action play.
Both seasons of "Galavant" are now available on Netflix.
