Galaxy A7 vs iPhone 6 Plus Review: Comparison of Specs and Features - Samsung Challenges Costlier Apple Device
Apple has a great phablet in the best-selling iPhone 6 Plus, but other devices – like the Galaxy A7 which has the same screen size – are entering the marketplace and giving it a run for its money.
The recently launched Galaxy A7 looks very much like a tough competitor. Like the Apple phone, the latest Samsung phone features a full metal body although its edges are not as rounded as those of the iPhone 6 Plus. The Galaxy A7, while having the same screen size as the iPhone 6 Plus, turns out to be thinner and lighter than its Samsung counterpart.
As for their displays, the Galaxy A7 has a Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch. As for the iPhone 6 Plus, it has a 5.5 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD screen, with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch.
A major difference between the devices is that the Galaxy A7 is more of a mid-range phone with no fingerprint sensor which the iPhone 6 Plus has.
As for their platforms, the Galaxy A7 will be available in two versions. The dual SIM version will have a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset while the single SIM device will have an Exynos 5 chipset. As for its CPU it will either have four 1.5 GHz cores and four 1.0GHz cores, or it will come with four cores clocked at 1.8GHz and four at 1.3GHz. The iPhone 6 Plus, on the other hand, has an Apple A8 chipset, a dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone CPU and PowerVR GX6450 GPU.
The Galaxy A7comes with a microSD slot that can be used to add external storage of up to 64 GB while the iPhone 6 Plus does not have one.
Comparing their prices, the 16 GB Galaxy A7 will probably be priced below $600 when it releases this year. The iPhone 6 Plus costs $749 without a contract.
