With the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge turning out to be massive hits, Samsung has started working on variants of its latest flagship phones.

One that has been rumored for several weeks now is the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. Images of the phone were leaked online recently. Along with this came the news that the device has been cleared by the FCC; hence, its launch could happen anytime soon.

The images confirmed rumors the Galaxy S6 Active is going to be rugged-looking compared to the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

The biggest change in the S6 Active is its back panel, which is painted with a camouflaged scheme much like its predecessor, the Galaxy S6 Active. Another major change appears in front as the fingerprint sensor is missing. Instead, there is a row of three buttons. Also the loudspeaker on the device has been moved to the back. Moreover, the earphone jack has reportedly been made waterproof.

This means that the phone will be much more durable than the flagship S6 models which are not waterproof. There are also indications that the S6 Active has a bigger 3,500mAh battery than the 2,600mAh version available on the Galaxy S6.

As for its screen, it is widely expected that the upcoming phone will have the same version as the Galaxy S6, which has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch. The 16-megapixel camera on the Galaxy S6 with optical image stabilization will also be used on the S6 Active.

The S6 Active will reportedly have a metal body. Some rumors also point towards it having a microSD card slot, which was not included on the S6 and S6 Edge.
