Samsung's decision to go with a metal and glass design on its Galaxy S6 Edge and leave out a microSD slot has reduced the number of flagship devices in the market that still offer memory slots and removable batteries. The LG G3 is one of those devices.
Design
Although it has a plastic frame, the LG G3 carries a premium look as it has a metal polish. It has slim bezels on its front which make it look sophisticated. It also comes in a range of colors such as white, black, gold, violet and burgundy. As for the Galaxy S6 Edge, it has a stunning screen with dual curved edges that extend over its sides, a premium metal frame and a glass back panel. The edges display notifications of calls, a night clock, and news alerts. They can even display pictures of select callers.
Display
The display on the Galaxy S6 Edge is a smaller 5.1-inch version, but it is super crisp with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch. As for the LG G3, it has an IPS + LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch.
Specs
On the Galaxy S6 Edge, is an Exynos 7420 chipset, quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU and Mali-T760 GPU. The LG G3, which was released last year, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and an Adreno 330 GPU.
Memory
The LG G3 has a major advantage as it has a memory slot which allows for the addition of up to 128 GB of external storage. The Galaxy S6 Edge does not have one. In terms of RAM, both devices are sold with 32 GB onboard memory. They also each have 3 GB RAM.
Price
The Galaxy S6 Edge could cost from $800 to $850 at full retail. The LG G3 costs $149 with a two-year contract. Its full retail price is $478.
