Galaxy S6 Edge vs One M9 Specs, Price Comparison: Features Review - Samsung Outshines Rival with Curved Screen
Samsung this year brought out two flagship smartphones – the Galaxy S6 and its curved screen variant, dubbed the S6 Edge. HTC followed suit with the release of the HTC One M9+ , which is a bigger variant of its flagship model. Here is how the two devices compare.
Design
The Galaxy S6 Edge and the One M9+ are undoubtedly premium devices crafted from metal and steel. But they look very different. The One M9+ follows the traditional design seen in smartphones and has bezels along the edge of its screen. It also has a brushed metal body and back panel and comes in three colors: gun metal grey, amber gold and a silver/gold combination. As for the S6 Edge, its screen curves over its left and right side and it has Gorilla Glass 4 on its back panel and a steel frame. The dual curved edges of the device are its most captivating feature. The edges display news alerts, photos of five important contacts and lights up with a specific color assigned to a caller.
Display
The One M9+ has a 5.2-inch display measuring 1440 x2560 pixels while the S6 Edge has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch.
Specs
On the One M9+ is a 2.2GHz MediaTek MT6795T processor which is coupled with a CPU with four cores. As for the S6 Edge, it comes with an Exynos 7420 chipset, a CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz along with a Mali-T760MP8 GPU.
Memory
The two devices have a major difference when it comes to memory slots since the S6 Edge does not have one while the slot on the One M9+ can be used to add up to 128 GB of external storage. As for RAM, however, both have 3 GB on board.
Features and Camera
Both devices come with a finger print sensor. In terms of their camera, there are major differences as the S6 Edge has a 16 megapixel main shooter with optical image stabilization while the One M9+ has a 20.7 megapixel version which lacks optical image stabilization.
Price
The 32 GB Galaxy S6 Edge is priced at $299 with a two-year contract while the One M9+ is currently only scheduled for release in China and its pricing has not been revealed.
