Galaxy S6 vs Nexus 6 Specs, Price Review: Features Comparison - Whale-Sized Phablet Takes On Premium Samsung Phone
Smartphones and phablets from the Samsung line have always performed better when compared with those from Google. However, when the whale-sized Nexus 6 was released, it seemed that finally Google had created a phablet with the looks and specs to take on anything that Samsung had to offer, including the Galaxy S6.
Design
The Nexus 6 is made almost entirely of plastic, including the slippery plastic on its back which makes it difficult to hold. It does have some metal in the form of a band the runs around its edge. It comes in white and blue. As for the Galaxy S6, it has a premium solid aluminum frame covered with Gorilla 4 Glass on its front and back panel. There is no word on how durable the glass will be, but there is no doubt that the phone which comes in black, white, blue and gold reflects light beautifully of its back panel.
Display
In terms of display, the Nexus 6 has a huge advantage as it has an AMOLED screen measuring 5.96 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 493 pixels per inch. Compared to this, the Galaxy S6 has a smaller Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with the same resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and consequently a sharper density of 577 pixels per inch.
Specs
On the Nexus 6 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, coupled with a quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 CPU and Adreno 420 GPU. Samsung chose to go with its own Exynos 7420 chipset on the Galaxy S6. This is coupled with a CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760 GPU.
Memory
Both devices do not have any memory slot. In terms of onboard storage, the Galaxy S6 will be sold with either 32, 64 or128 GB along with 3 GB RAM while the Nexus 6 is sold with either 32 or 64 GB of onboard memory and 3 GB RAM.
Price
The Nexus 6 is available with a two-year contract at $299 and costs $682 without one. The full retail price of the Galaxy S6 could be around $699.
