'Game of Thrones' Cast News: Maisie Williams Joins 'Doctor Who', as a Villain?
Maisie Williams, the actress who plays Arya Stark in "Game of Thrones," has lined up a gig on "Doctor Who" before she returns to Westeros in the sixth season of "Game of Thrones" which is due to start filming in July.
Details of her role on the show were released by BBC which stated that soon after promoting the upcoming fifth season of "Game of Thrones," Williams had joined the team at TARDIS. Her role is still under wraps, but the broadcaster hinted that she would give the Doctor "hell," meaning that she was likely cast as a villain.
With "Doctor Who" slated to return to TV screens in the autumn, nerds who have long admired the series will no doubt greet the news of Williams' addition to the cast with a good amount of enthusiasm. The actress is already immensely popular, thanks to her role on "Game of Thrones," and the fifth season will show her in Bravos as she presumably tries to become an assassin.
There are indications that Williams' is going to be portraying another tough- as-nail character in "Doctor Who." Steven Moffat, the lead writer and executive producer on the show, hinted as much. He said, "Williams' character is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways."
Moffat also added that this time round, "the doctor might just be out of his depth, as she gives him exactly the right sort of hell."
Williams, who is already on the set of "Doctor Who" after returning from America, said she was "excited to be working on 'Doctor Who' as it's such a big and important part of British culture."
She said she was also happy about the fact that filming of the show would take place near her home town and was looking forward to meeting the other cast and crew.
Peter Capaldi plays "The Doctor" and Jenna Coleman plays Clara Oswald on the show. The upcoming season will feature more of their time-traveling adventures.
